4Sponge-wrapped chamoisSep 09, 2011
By COherbalmama
For any others out there like myself who are totally unfamiliar with any auto-related products... I actually assumed this was a regular chamois, just folded up in the packaging. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it says "chamois pad," but I would actually consider a thick chamois a pad. I was NOT expecting a big sponge covered in a chamois. It will still wind up working for me, but certainly wouldn't if one needed just the large chamois cloth that could be folded however you see fit. Product dimensions would have told me this was actually a sponge, so I'm knocking it a star for that. By the way, dimensions are 2 x 4 x 7 3/4.

5Awesome for defogging your windows in winter!Jan 05, 2010

My '68 Plymouth Fury has less than optimal defogging and defrosting features, and these little chamois pads are so handy! You have to try them if you ever have condensation issues in your car, they're really amazing- and cheap.
I am buying another to use to wipe down our front-loader washing machine.

I've been scrubbing my windows kind of hard with the pad to get off frozen condensation on the interior side of my windows and the stitching is holding up very well. I was afraid since these were so inexpensive that they might be poor quality, but happily that's not the case.

I am really glad I bought these.

5Great BuyOct 30, 2010

I agree with the other post. I was worried that it would suck because of the low price. I definitely wouldn't use it for washing a car (i'd stick to a typical chamois rag) but for removing moisture from inside car windows its the absolute best. I'll be buying this product for life.

2Detailers Choice 9-953 Genuine Leather Chamois Pad-1 eachDec 23, 2012

Note: This company doesn't say anywhere that its' chamois products are sheep skin. I didn't notice that when I bought them. What do you use it for? Well, the best I can see is wiping moisture off the inside of an auto window in cool weather. If you rinse it and try to dry or wipe a mirror down it leaves water streaks and also hide lint. I also used it to wipe off a lighted 3.5 inch magnifying glass, and it left a lot of Yellow hide lint behind and you could see it from 5 feet away. I might use it to wipe down a hard plastic surface as long as it doesn't matter about water streaks or lint staying behind. The lint remained after I had washed it with mild soap and rinsed it three times too. Even rinsed under running water. You don't want to use it on auto paint if you are going to wax since the lint and water streaks will remain there. Now if not waxing they eventually probably will come off eventually. One thing I will give it. It doesn't produce as much hide lint as the Detailers Choice 5 foot chamois, it's terrible about that. But this still leaves a lot. I also have doubt about the product being sheep skin, it may be some kind of leather, pig, horse, goat ? But they never say it's sheep skin, sooo. I do know they have some restrictions in Europe which deals with inferior quality chamois and implied quality. If I used it to dry fogged car windows, not sure where I would put it while wet. Not in a plastic bag to mildew. Anyway for me I'm better off using micro-cloth towels to wipe and dry . I wouldn't buy this again.

4I'd say this is a darn good ShammyNov 23, 2013

I am using this to buff my nails as nail as buffing shammies have been missing from my local CVS.
